"Supermarket owners know that 98 percent of coupons are thrown away," Peterson said . "Most people can't be bothered going through the papers, looking for the store's sales and clipping coupons. They think it will take too much time and it will be too much trouble. That's why the markets call people like Peterson 'ultimate internet deal finders. Who look over the net and the papers to give tips like this.

Peterson's Coupon Tricks

Instead of clipping and filing coupons immediately, Peterson writes the date on the packet of coupons that come with her internet and Sunday paper and sets them aside.

Cutting Your Cable, Internet or Phone Bill

First check to see if any of your companies are useing are offering coupons on the big sites like swfloridarewards.com or cityrewardsnetwork.com for new service.
Rising competition has meant that packages for phone, internet and cable are cheaper than ever. Additionally, these companies have spent so much money to acquire new customers that they will go to great lengths to keep you. If your plan is over six months old, chances are you are overpaying. Call your phone, cable or internet company and tell them that a competitor has offered you a better deal to switch over and you are thinking taking the offer unless they can match it. A good rule of thumb is to shoot for 20-30% below what you are paying currently and to name the competitor i.e. Comcast, RCN. If they won’t budge, ask to speak with the cancellation department and tell them you want to cancel your service. These folks are empowered to make a last ditch effort to keep you. As an example, when I recently switch to Verzion’s new FOIS service, the retention department at comcast called me and offered a package that was 50% of what I was currently paying. Go all the way with the bluff, you can always pick a cancellation date a few weeks out and then call and change your mind. They will be more than happy to keep you as a customer.

Should I Craigs List?

Many folks swear by getting free or cheap stuff on Craigslist, but for me, it just isn't worth the hassle. This is partly because I live in a meduium city fort myers,Naples and most of the items listed on Craiglist at any given time will be a) already taken or b) too far away to be worth the effort.

I think that the kind of person who is most likely to have success on Craigslist a) owns a pickup truck or other large vehicle (for large purchases) b) is strong and has access to extra help (again, for large purchases) c) lives in a small city, d) has lots of free time to stay on top of ads and pick up merchandise, and e) is not picky.

I've gone to look at a couch I saw on Craigslist before and found it to be a real waste of time. The couch looked much nicer in the photo than it did in real life so I wasted about an hour driving back and forth to go look at it.
